After your bankruptcy is filed, the clerk of the bankruptcy court mails an official notice to all the creditors listed in your schedules. The time from mailing to the time the creditor records the filing of your bankruptcy typically takes 1 to 2 weeks. If a creditor continues to call after this amount time, then sending notice to the creditor directly is advised. In some cases, you will want to send notice to the creditor yourself, such as in the case of a pending foreclosure sale or garnishment.
